Automatic updates to task time estimates
Use case
This feature significantly improves project scheduling and automates tedious adjustments to time estimates. With this mechanism enabled, project managers gain confidence and precision in planning, knowing that reported time will always reflect reality. It effectively eliminates the risk of discrepancies in time budgets and removes the need for the team to update data manually whenever the planned time is exceeded. As a result, the organisation gains a realistic picture of progress and saves time, allowing managers to focus on strategic management rather than micromanaging spreadsheets.
Description
In the project management panel, the Gantt chart settings now include a new optional feature for adjusting estimated work time. When this option is enabled in an ongoing project, an additional action, "Adjust existing tasks", appears in the interface. It allows a one-time bulk update of time estimates for existing entries, eliminating the need to edit historical data manually.
From that point on, the mechanism runs entirely in the background: if the time logged by employees on a task exceeds the original estimate, the system automatically overwrites the estimated time so that it is at least equal to the hours actually worked. The update is immediately reflected on the timeline (Gantt), in the task details view, and in all related reports.
